Welcome to RPs Electronics Workshop. My name is Ralph and I’ll be you host for this series of blog posts and videos.

My fascination for electronics started at an early age and often ended with the destruction of various family electrical devices. Luckily my folks deemed the shocks and burns to be punishment enough and never tried to make me stop as long as I stayed away from the more expensive household items.

About 40 years ago is when I really got the bug bad when I got my first job at the neighborhood Radio Shack. Surrounded with a wonderland of parts and armed with an employee discount I was off on the adventure that has lasted, off and on, for the rest of my life.

I started getting back into the hobby not too long before the lock down but the events of the last year have made having such a pastime something I am grateful for. It is also a hobby that I would like to share with others in, what I hope is, a straight forward and easy to follow manner.

The first two dozen or so installments will cover some of the basics and a handful of simple projects on through designing a circuit from scratch and having a custom printed circuit board made. While we will touch on some basics we will not be going into great detail as you all will have different levels of previous experience and there is a lot of very good sources out there that cover Ohm’s law and other basics. I will try to link or at least mention things you might want to research to fill in any gaps you may have to make what we are covering easier to follow.

After that we will start covering user requested topics and projects. All installments will be available both on my website as well as my YouTube channel. I will have a Discord set up for comments and discussions.

I hope that you will find some of what I present here helpful and invite you all to become a part of the process by joining in the discussions. Thank you all for your interest in this project.
